Is It Okay For Black Men to Call Black Women a Bitch?

Is Isaiah Thomas the stupidest man on the face of this earth? Why in the HELL would you do a videotaped deposition and say that it's no as bad to call a black woman a bitch as it is for a white woman? That's insane. But he said it! And that's why the jury found him liable in the $10M lawsuit.

But seriously -- is that what black men think? What about us women -- is it "not as bad" for a black man to call us a bitch as it is a white man? I know we call our girlfriends' "bitches" jokingly sometimes (or so I've heard), but for a man to call me a bitch? As Whitney would say "Hell to the NAW!"

What's the verdict -- is it okay or not? BE FOR REAL...if you think it's not as bad, say it!

Check Isaiah's dumb butt incriminating himself (see below).

It is not ok for either white or a black man to call a woman a bitch. But what about the context or the circumstances the word is use? If it meant to hurt someone or to be disrespectful it is definitely a no-no. We all know that at one time in our life we as women we call another woman a bitch for either reason, black or white. It is not a question of race but rather when is it okay to call a woman a bitch? What about the white woman? Is it okay for a black woman to call a fellow black woman a bitch but it is not okay for a white woman?

I accidentally found your blog post on wedding rings, and was kind of shocked at how intensely women reacted to that, and this again is something that strikes me as a mountain/molehill situation. He's talking about the current hiphop slang. The town where I used to live was absolutely infused with it, and i can honestly say that girls were called bitches by both sexes, and as a common term. Bitches seems to have replaced "chicks", just like "chick" replaced "gal". The reason is has to do with race is that the slang/sub-culture emerged from African-American culture, and wasn't meant to be degogatory. Its not literal, any more than when they call cars "whips". Taking either case seriously is stupidity.
